Weiman Preview (the principal of contemporary upholstery)has re-vamped or under vamped rather, this seasons  models. Staying True to their clean flowing lines and and super contemporary frame style, Weiman has traded the loud, patterned upholstery for muted earth tones with lots of texture, saying that their designs are “more in the moment”.

One of the companies important and underutilized assets is a valuable archive of designs many by Vladimir Kagan, whose iconic designs are know the world over. Another asset is the talent of the it’s crafts people and it’s vertically integrated 78k square foot factory, many of whom have been with the company for 30 years. Weiman concedes that the most import part of their re-launch is their frames. Most of them are curvy and could not be executed with out the experience of the crafts people.

While designs have changed, price points have remained the same- sofa’s ranging form $2,000- $3,000 and three piece sectionals $4500- $8000. The company puts a high emphasis on comfort and has worked to make it’s older products more comfortable.

Lately I’ve been getting a lot of calls about weather Natuzzi is still made in Italy.

The answer, yes and no. It depends on weather you are talking about Natuzzi Italy or Natuzzi Editions.  Natuzzi Italy is the original “Mother” company it always has been made in Italy and still is. Natuzzi Italy has it’s own factory and all of the materials are also made in Italy (with the exception of the leather). More recently Natuzzi branched out to Natuzzi Editions and Italsofa. Natuzzi Editions Brand is the equivalent of Italian furniture for American living and is made in China or Brazil. ItalSofa is also made in China or Brazil and is marketed for the younger generation with funky shapes and colors.
